A physically correct ice material was applied to the text in order to create this incredibly realistic (and cold) looking visual, positioned on a stainless steel floor.
Individual diamonds were placed within the pound sign to achieve the sparkling and expensive finish to this render. A black reflective studio environment was used to add to the sharpness of the final image.
Physically correct lighting is a large part of what we try to recreate. Here we made some light fixtures and gave each of them their typical RGB values. As you can see they accurately emit their given colours. Loose wires were included in the scene to add more for the lights to react with.
Metals of all types can look perfect. In this scene we placed a semi-reflective brass material onto some clean text, which was situated on a wooden background.
Rather than emboss the concrete text, we decided to show the opposite and sink the effect into the floor. This helped give off the cold and hard look we were going for.
Inspired by the recent NHS ads, this is 3D text being used in a completely different way. We chose specific typography to match the sentences on the speech bubbles to create this almost illustrative piece.
Here is a close up of this technique. We made sure we created environment lighting that matched the background photo to ensure the speech bubbles looked perfectly natural.
Anything is possible in CGI. Whether the text is small or large, under water or in a desert, there are no limitations to what you can create.
